July Feature Westside Foodie June 22, 2017 6:06 pm

It seems that everyone loves L.A. It’s true. Houses are selling like wildfire and prices are going up fast. Among the transplants to the area are some superb chefs and restauranteurs who bring with them fancy awards, best-selling cookbooks, and mouthwatering food for the Westside Foodie.

According to an interview with Ken Friedman, the owner-chef of the Spotted Pig in New York, “L.A. is the hottest and best food city in the world right now.” Although he was speaking from New York, he’s on his way to L.A. along with a host of other famous chefs. So, if you are a Westside foodie, then you are going to be happy you are here.

What’s The Hook?

Although you may be happy to simply eat the food, you may be wondering what’s bringing these incredible chefs to the area. It appears to be a number of things at once, creating the perfect food storm:

  • Fresh food availability through farmer’s markets and farm to table opportunities
  • Transportation in L.A. is getting easier with ride-sharing apps
  • The L.A. area is seeing a rebirth of sorts
  • Casual dining is exploding

Then, of course, there’s the wonderful L.A. weather luring chefs away from colder locations such as Chicago and NYC! And finally, everyone loves L.A. and all there is to do here.

A Few To Consider

Trying to name all of the restaurants with famous chefs would take far too long, but here are a few  you might want to consider if you are a Westside foodie:

Red O Restaurant – West Hollywood

8155 Melrose Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90046

Chef Rick Bayless brings to life Mexican cuisine with a twist, using the famous spices from his PBS show, “Mexico.” Whether you want sweet or spicy, crunchy or smooth, Chef Bayless has you covered. Be sure to try out the famous Spicy Margarita as well!

Maude – Beverly Hills

www.mauderestaurant.com

212 S Beverly Drive
Beverly Hills, CA

If you get tired of the same old thing, the Maude is for you with a menu that changes monthly, always spotlighting a specific ingredient from main appetizer to dessert. Chef Curtis Stone will delight your taste buds with every dish.

Hudson House – Redondo Beach

www.hudsonhousebar.com

514 N Pacific Coast Hwy

Chef Brooke Williamson, runner up for Top Chef, will provide the perfect food to enjoy with a cold micro-brew. The Hudson Pretzel Burger would be my top choice!

I’d love to hear your favorite restaurants and why they make your list. Feel free to share in the comments. And, as always, if you have questions about buying and selling on the Westside, I’d love to chat.
